Canes Reassign Boychuk, Terry to Charlotte
Terry earned first two NHL assists last night against Dallas
Terry, 24, played in two games during the recall, and notched a pair of assists in Carolina’s win against Dallas on Thursday night. The Brampton, Ont., native has appeared in 10 NHL games with Carolina this season, earned two points (0g, 2a) and has averaged 12:04 of ice time per game. He ranks second among Charlotte skaters this season in goals (28), power-play goals (14) and points (66), and first in assists (38) in 63 games. Terry (5’10”, 195 lbs.) has totaled three points (1g, 2a) in 13 career NHL games with Carolina since being drafted by the Hurricanes in the fifth round, 132nd overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Boychuk, 24, skated 8:06 of ice time against Dallas on Thursday and has totaled four points (1g, 3a) in 10 NHL games this season. The Airdrie, Alb., native ranks tied for first in the AHL in goals (32) and tied for fourth in points (67). Boychuk (5’10”, 185 lbs.), is also first in the AHL in power-play goals (16) and was named CCM/AHL Player of the Month in March after notching 22 points (9g, 13a) in 16 games. Carolina’s first-round selection, 14th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Boychuk has totaled nine goals and 15 assists (24 points) in 95 career NHL games with Carolina, Pittsburgh and Nashville.
