Story: Canes Bulk Up on Day Two
Saturday, 06.28.2014 / 3:30 p.m.

Adding size was something the Carolina Hurricanes wanted to address heading into the second day of the 2014 NHL Draft, and they were able to accomplish just that.

Of the five skaters and a goaltender chosen in rounds two through seven, four were at least six feet tall with each of those players pushing at least 180 pounds.

“We thought it went pretty well. We’re pleased with all the players we got,” said Tony MacDonald, the Canes head of amateur scouting. “We added some size, which was something that we wanted to address.”

Canes Select Wesley, Wallmark
Saturday, 06.28.2014 / 11:45 a.m.

With back-to-back picks in the fourth round of the 2014 NHL Draft, the Carolina Hurricanes selected defenseman Josh Wesley and Swedish forward Lucas Wallmark. Wesley becomes North Carolina's first homegrown player to be drafted in the NHL CarolinaHurricanes.com profiled Wesley a few months ago before visiting him at his home in Raleigh just last week. We'll have much more on him in the hours and days to come.

Wallmark is 6-foot, 176-pound winger from Umea, Sweden. He was teammates with Elias Lindholm at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Canes Select Foegele
Saturday, 06.28.2014 / 11:15 a.m.

The Carolina Hurricanes selected winger Warren Foegele with the 67th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft. Foegele is a 6-foot-1, 178-pound self-described "two-way power forward" if that gives you any indication as to how the Canes are drafting this year.

The Carolina Hurricanes selected goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic (Plymouth) with the 37th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.
