Goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic suffered a broken thumb in summer training and will miss Carolina Hurricanes Prospects Development Camp, which will be held July 21-26 at PNC Arena.

Surgery will not be required for Nedeljkovic, who was the Canes’ 37th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft and one of three goaltenders on the development camp roster. The injury could prevent him from participating in Team USA’s World Junior evaluation camp in Lake Placid in August, but he remains a distinct possibility to be the club's No. 1 goaltender in the late-year tournament. Nedeljkovic could return to play with the Canes at the annual NHL Prospects Tournament in Traverse City, Michigan, in early September.

With Nedeljkovic sidelined, Cary-product Logan Halladay will man the net opposite Daniel Altshuller. Halladay is one of three former Jr. Hurricanes who will participate in camp, alongside Canes fourth-round draft pick Josh Wesley and camp invitee Bryan Moore.

After beginning with roller hockey, Halladay, a 17-year-old camp invitee, developed his game in the Jr. Hurricanes youth hockey program. Most recently, he competed with the Janesville Jets of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), where he posted an 18-8-2 record, a 2.26 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage. Halladay has committed to the University of Minnesota for the 2014-15 season.

CanesVision sat down with Halladay and his parents prior to the 2014 NHL Draft. You can watch that interview here.
