Jason Karmanos Executive Vice President / Assistant General ManagerJason Karmanos is in his 15th year in the hockey operations department for the Carolina Hurricanes. Karmanos rejoined the organization in June 2008 as executive director of hockey operations and returned to his role as vice president and assistant general manager in December 2009. He works with President/General Manager Jim Rutherford and Director of Hockey Operations Ron Francis in player evaluations, contract negotiations and player movements. His other responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the hockey club and the Hurricanes’ minor-league affiliates in the AHL and ECHL. Karmanos served as the team’s vice president and assistant general manager from 1998-2007 and was in that role when the Hurricanes captured the Stanley Cup in 2006, marking the first championship of his career. Karmanos played hockey collegiately for Harvard University, graduating in 1996. He attended the Pittsburgh Penguins’ training camp upon the conclusion of his collegiate career, but had his professional career cut short when he suffered an eye injury while playing for the Raleigh Ice Caps during the 1996-97 season. Upon his retirement from hockey, Karmanos worked for an investment bank located in Boston. Jason and his wife, Christy, reside in Wake Forest and have four daughters, Ella, Kayla, Anna and Lila. |
