Hurricanes University

Enroll in Hurricanes U - Hockey 101, where knowledge and fantasy meet to give Hurricanes U undergrads the knowledge they search for about the game of hockey and the behind-the-scenes look they have always wondered about.

Back for its seventh season, Hurricanes U is a three-night study session for fans who want to learn more about the coolest game on earth. Each session will feature members from the Hurricanes team, coaching staff and broadcast team.

Hockey 101 participants will receive three sessions, a t-shirt, rules/games handbook, ticket to a Hurricanes game, graduation certificate and a graduation tassel! The cost of the entire program is only $135 per participant.

Give Hurricanes U to a friend or loved one - these sessions are great for birthday gifts, holiday presents and office outings - or just to gain a better understanding of the game! Hurricanes U is open to people of all ages, knowledge level and skating ability.

Classes

Hockey 101
Class Session #1
This is an on-ice learning experience where students are taught the basics of skating and hockey skills. Never skated before? Don't worry, we will supply the ice skates and the equipment. If you aren't comfortable skating, we will put you on the Hurricanes bench so you are still right by the action. Students are treated to a Hurricanes player appearance and a short Q&A session.

Class Session #2
Don't forget your bluebook! Students join Hurricanes coaches and staff in a classroom setting where they are instructed on the rules, regulations and strategies of ice hockey. Students will study the equipment, watch videos and be tested on their hockey trivia knowledge. Don't forget to study, because there's going to be a homework assignment!

Class Session #3
Graduation Day! The final class session is held at a Hurricanes home game and participants graduate on the ice before the game.

Graduate Course

Take your knowledge to the next level with Hurricanes University Graduate Course. This program looks at how the current Hurricanes team was built. Learn about contracts, free agency, the collective bargaining agreement, the draft, waivers and more from members of the Hurricanes management team. Get in depth into scouting and the Canes systems with members of the video and coaching teams. And, strap some skates on and participate in drills and learn some insider information from a member of the Hurricanes coaching staff.
