Caniacs, you are invited to be a part of the most exciting, informative and behind-the-scenes Hurricanes Hockey classes to have ever been held! Enroll in Hurricanes U - Hockey 101, where knowledge and fantasy meet to give Hurricanes U undergrads the knowledge they need about the game of hockey and the exclusive behind-the-scenes look they have always wondered about. Hurricanes U is a three-night class session for fans of all ages and skill levels who desire to learn more about the world’s greatest sport, hockey. Each session will allow you to meet your favorite Hurricanes players and coaches, receive rare access to the locker room, meet a member of the broadcast team and see the ice from the players’ point of view.All Hurricanes U participants will receive three class sessions, a t-shirt, a ticket to a hockey game, a graduation certificate, a rules/game handbook, graduation tassel and MORE! The cost of the entire program is only $140 per student. The Hurricanes U program is perfect as a gift for birthdays or holidays as well as team building activities for work, church groups and other organizations. This program meets the needs for fans just starting to learn the game as well as those who want to take their knowledge to the next level. No prior skating or hockey experience necessary. Classes Hockey 101 The first session is an on-ice learning experience where students are taught basic skating and hockey skills. Not only will you be skating on famous PNC Arena ice, but on the same ice that your favorite Hurricanes players have been skating on for years. For those who have never skated, ice skates and equipment will be supplied. If you are not quite ready to hit the ice, you have the opportunity to sit on the Hurricanes bench and watch the action up close. A tour of the entire Hurricanes team locker room is also included in this class session. Students will sit where Eric Staal sits before a game and see where Tuomo Ruutu prepares before a big match-up. In addition, students will have the exclusive opportunity to meet a Hurricanes player and get the answers to the questions they really want to know in an informative Q&A session. Classroom Session Students will join Hurricanes coaches and hockey experts in a classroom setting where they will be instructed on all aspects of hockey including offensive and defensive strategy, offside, icing, penalties, basic terminology, game strategy, power plays, penalties and more! Everyone will study the equipment, watch videos and gain hockey trivia knowledge. This session also includes a film break down with a Hurricanes coach in the team locker room. This exclusive video access allows you to see the same tape the Hurricanes see before their next game. The coach will explain how they break down the opponents' offensive and defensive systems and then walk students through a typical game day routine. This will be more fun than any class in school! Graduation Day Graduation Day! Participants will attend a final class session at a Hurricanes home game and proceed to graduate on the PNC Arena ice before the game in front of proud family, friends and Hurricanes fans in attendance. Classroom Session Take your knowledge even further with the Hurricanes U Graduate course. In this classroom session students will be taught by a Hurricanes front office executive about how past and current Hurricanes teams were built. Learn about contracts, free agency, the collective bargaining agreement, the draft, waivers and more from members of the Hurricanes management team. Students will also spend time in the Hurricanes locker room while getting in depth information about the Canes systems and breaking down film with the video and coaching staff. Graduation Day This is graduation day! Participants will attend a final class session at a Hurricanes home game and proceed to graduate on the PNC Arena ice before the game in front of all of the proud friends, family and Hurricanes fans in attendance. Upon completion of this course, students will earn the most prestigious graduate degree in hockeyology from the Carolina Hurricanes. |
