Canes Summer Fun Fest Presented by 99.9 FM the Fan

The Fourth Annual Canes Summer Fun Fest, presented by 99.9 FM the Fan, is set for Friday, July 22, at 5:30 p.m. at the RBC Center. The event includes live music, over 10 interactive inflatables and games, sledding on snow, free giveaways, guest speakers from the Hurricanes, appearances by Stormy and the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad, discounted concessions, extended hours for the Eye and a showing of a classic Hurricanes game. Parking and admission are free to the general public. Click here for photos from a past event.

The annual State of the Hurricanes address will be hosted by Television play-by-play announcer John Forslund.  He will be joined by recently re-signed forward Chad LaRose and new assistant coach Rod Brind'Amour. Fans will be able to hear about the action-packed summer the two have had and what lies ahead for the 2011-12 season.

The Canes Summer Fun Fest will be fans’ first chance to view available seat locations for the 2011-12 season, which will kick off in October. Fans will have the opportunity to roam the RBC Center and pick out seats for full season ticket packages and 26-game plans.

The event will feature the return of the Hot N’ Cold Eating Extravaganza, with the winner taking home two 12-game plans for the 2011-12 season. The Extravaganza will challenge participants to see who can eat a barbeque sandwich and ice cream sandwich the quickest. Participation is limited and there is a $10 entry fee with proceeds going to the Kids ‘N Community Foundation. Participants will compete in sub heats with the winners chowing down on the main stage at 7:45 p.m. The overall winner will take home the tickets. If you are interested in participating, please click here for a registration form.

At 9:00 p.m., Game 7 from the 2006 Eastern Conference Finals will be played. The game features the Hurricanes' come-from-behind victory over the Buffalo Sabres. This game was selected by the fans via online vote last year, but was not shown due to inclement weather.
