Greg Stefan, 51, rejoins the Hurricanes coaching staff in 2012-13 as goaltending coach, after serving as a pro scout for the organization in 2011-12. Stefan previously served as goaltending coach and pro scout for the Hurricanes for three seasons from 2005-2008, winning his first Stanley Cup Championship with the team in 2006.

Originally from Brantford, Ont., Stefan was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. He went on to play nine seasons as a goaltender in the NHL, compiling a career record of 115-127-30 with a 3.92 goals-against average for Detroit before suffering a career-ending knee injury in a game against Edmonton on Nov. 25, 1989. Stefan began his coaching career in 1993 as an assistant coach for the Detroit Jr. Red Wings, who later became the Plymouth Whalers. He served as assistant coach for the team through 1998, and then rejoined the team in 2003 as assistant coach and director of player development.
