Summer 2012 Q&A

What was your favorite memory from this past season?

Our first-ever Calendar Release Party! Oh and also being featured on the pocket calendar box…that was pretty cool!

Of course Hurricanes hockey is your favorite sport, but what sports are you following now that the season is over?
Baseball! I’m a huge Orioles fan. And all Olympic sports. I work for an Olympic sports agency working with a lot of the athletes competing this summer in London. Very exciting time!

What is your favorite summer trip?
My family goes to the Outer Banks every summer for a week; anytime I’m with family with sunshine and sand, I’m a happy girl. We also take a lot of cruises, so I can’t really pick one. I’m spoiled with vacations!

What is your favorite summertime treat?
Sitting outside with frozen custard!

Birthday cake or cupcakes?
Neither. I dislike cake a lot. (People tell me I’m strange, but it’s too spongy.) I’m an ice cream girl!

What is the best vacation that you have been on?
The nine-day cruise I took for Christmas this past Winter. What’s better than laying on the beautiful beaches of St. Lucia getting tan while everyone at home is bundled up?

What would I find in your fridge right now?
STRAWBERRIES! They are finally in season – they are my favorite! Other than that, string cheese (always), eggs, chicken, salsa (love salsa on everything!), lots of veggies and CREAMER. (I’m a coffee nut.) Plus, anything healthy. I’m kind of a health freak.

What is the last movie you went to see?
Good question ... I can’t remember! I don’t go to the movies. I like to do on demand and stay in my bed and watch!

What is your favorite North Carolina beach?
OBX for sure. I lived there for a Summer during college and now go back every chance I get.

What are some things you can’t live without?
My running shoes, MAC lipgloss, iPod, Victoria Secret’s tanning lotion (I don’t do beds. They may give you cancer!), my Jessica Simpson shoes and of course my princess Mikhaila, my 9 lb. shih tzu who is the love of my life!

What is your current ringtone?
Some annoying iPhone original setting. When I had a Blackberry, it was set to the Keri Hilson song, “My name is Carrie, I’m so very fly, oh my, it’s a little bit scary." I think I’m going back to that one!

If you could buy a plane ticket to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Australia. Beautiful beaches. Surfing. Sharks. (I have a weird obsession.) And cute boys!

Take the winning shot or make the pass that leads to the winning shot?
Take the winning shot, for sure. Is that bad? I’m a team player though so anything that leads to winning, I’m down for too!

Which do you like more and why: the black jersey, the red jersey or the white jersey?
Black. They make a statement!

In your own words, what does it mean to be a role model?
To live and breathe what you believe in and are passionate about, and through your actions and behavior, you are able to inspire others to do the same.

What was the best birthday gift you ever received?
Trip to NYC to meet the Today Show broadcasters and see RENT on Broadway.

Beach or Pool?
Beach, most definitely. I’m a beach girl. But anywhere I can get some sun, I’m ok with!

What’s your must-DVR show?
"Vampire Diaries" and "Army Wives"! I’m such a girl.

Do you have anything exciting planned for Memorial Day Weekend?
My roommate and I just got a new deck at our downtown Raleigh apartment; we will definitely be cooking out and playing cornhole!

2011-12 Season Q&A

What are the top three things on your bucket list?
1. Be an editor of a top fitness and beauty magazine in New York or California
2. Write a book
3. Live at the beach and start my own yoga studio

What would your friends be surprised to know about you?
My friends are always shocked that I LOVE sharks. Next to @GiulianaRancic, they are my second obsession.

What is the wallpaper on your cell phone?
My baby shih tzu driving my car, haha, no joke! She has her learner’s permit!

If you could have been born in another country, what country would you have liked to have grown up in?
Australia. I’m a beach girl – I love swimming, surfing, waterskiing and of course tanning. I think I’d fit right in!

How did you meet your best friend?
We met on the school playground and pretended we were Hulk Hogan’s wife and would try and lift all the playground equipment. I know, we were weird. My new best friends in Raleigh I met playing dodgeball. We are really cool.

Who was your favorite musical artist when you were in the 5th grade?
N’Sync, 98 Degrees and Hanson. I swore I was going to marry Zac Hanson… he was a heartthrob.

If you could sit on the front row at any concert, whose concert would you want to see?
Probably Rihanna. She probably has some sick back up dancers, not to mention a sick body and sick tunes.

What is the craziest thing your parents did to embarrass you growing up?
Wore buttons and t-shirts with my face on them to ALL my cheerleading competitions. So embarrassing.

What is your favorite color of nail polish and why?
Dark purple. It’s sexy, mysterious, chic and classy all at the same time!

In your opinion, what is the best kept secret in Raleigh?
This is not in Raleigh, but the Duke Forest Trail. It’s an amazing running trail and so peaceful when you just want to get away. Fabulous place to watch the leaves turn too!

If you could write a mission statement for your life, what would it say?
My mission is to live life to the fullest, strive to achieve my dreams and inspire others to do the same, all while living, loving and laughing.

Would you rather be a princess or a rock star?
A rock star – they get to dance whenever wherever and have cool hair!

Where are you from?
Washington, D.C.

What is your least favorite subject that you studied in school?
English, yuck. I’m a math dork.

What is the most memorable sporting event that you’ve attended?
My dad and I were at the Orioles' (my favorite baseball team) game when Cal Ripkin surpassed Lou Gehrig’s record for the most consecutive games played – I had goose bumps, butterflies and tears all at the same time. It was amazing. The NHL All-Star weekend last year in Raleigh could probably tie that experience though. I felt blessed to be a first time Storm Squad girl.

Do you prefer Jersey Shore at the actual Jersey Shore, in Miami, or in Italy best?
Well if I HAD to pick, I would say Italy. (Even though I’ve never been there.)

If you were on American Idol, what song would you choose to sing?
Spice Girls, "Wannabe"!

If you could travel to any point in time, where would you go and why?
Um, definitely the 80’s. I’m obsessed with the decade – hair, fashion, music, everything. Kind of wish I grew up then!
