National Anthem Open Audition


The Carolina Hurricanes are holding an open audition to find a full-time anthem singer for the 2012-13 season. Individuals are invited to try out on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 at PNC Arena from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Pre-registration is not required.

Process for Audition Day
  • Contestants should park in the VIP parking lot and enter and check in via the VIP entrance of PNC Arena.
  • Individuals will sing on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • You will receive a minute and a half to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner." We are looking for an individual to sing the anthem a cappella in a traditional style. Music or CDs accompanying the singing will not be allowed.
  • Attire is up to the candidate.
  • Singers will be using the audio equipment of the Carolina Hurricanes.
  • Food and beverage will not be available for participants. Participants can bring their own items for personal use.
  • The individual needs to know "O Canada." Please note that candidates will not sing "O Canada" at the audition.

One. The Hurricanes are looking for a full-time anthem singer for the entire 2012-13 season.

How many times will this person be expected to sing the national anthem?

The Carolina Hurricanes play 41 regular season and three preseason home games, in addition to potential playoff games. This individual will sing 30-35 of these dates, selected by the Carolina Hurricanes. For a complete list of the team’s schedule, please click here.

Is there a fee to try out?

No.

Can groups try out?

In this process, the goal is to find an individual singer to perform the national anthem.

Does the selected singer get paid?

No. The selected anthem singer will receive tickets to the Carolina Hurricanes games in which he or she performs.
