Amber's Bio

This is Amber’s first year with the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad. She received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education of NC A&T University in 2008 and will graduate in May 2013 with a master’s from Gardner-Webb University. A teacher by day, Amber is very energetic and outgoing and enjoys reading, watching reality TV, baking, serving at church and pinning new crafts and recipes on Pinterest. Amber looks forward to staying involved in the community and getting to better know the best fans in the land!

What are the top three things on your bucket list?
Only picking three things is hard, but I guess I’ll go with going to Hawaii, going to Paris and baking with Buddy the Cake Boss.

Where is your favorite hangout in Raleigh?
My favorite hangout in Raleigh is my house! There’s no place like home!

If you could have been born in another country, what country would it be?
I think being born in France would be cool. Could you imagine having the Eiffel Tower or Le Louvre as your normal hangout spots?

What is your favorite app on your phone or iPod?
Tweetcaster is my favorite app! Where would my followers be without my random thoughts and inspirational tweets?

When did you go to your first NHL hockey game?
I went to my first hockey game a couple years ago. I was working part-time at Express, and my store won a contest. They used the money to take us to dinner and a Hurricanes game!

What is your dream job, other than being a member of the Storm Squad?
Teaching is my dream job, and I get to do that every day!

What is the strangest thing in your refrigerator right now?
Onion dip that my mom left the last time she came to visit. Onions are disgusting! Yucky!

What is your favorite quote?
“If I could wish for my life to be perfect, it would be tempting, but I would have to decline, for life would no longer teach me anything.”

Would you rather be a princess or a rock star?
A rock star! I play a mean air drum!

If you could be anyone’s personal assistant for a day, who would it be?
I would be Jessica Simpson’s assistant for a day, and she could pay me in shoes!

If you could travel to any point in time, where would you go and why?
I would travel back to the 70s so I could see what my mom was like as a teen. Plus, I think I’d be pretty cute in afro puffs and a mini skirt!

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
I would have teaching superpowers! I’d be able to turn every student into a fluent, lifelong reader!

If someone wrote a biography about you, what would you want it to be titled?
The title for my biography would be “Hey Friends (insert big hug)!” and the cover would be me with my arms open for a big hug. What can I say? I’m a hugger!

What is the most interesting vacation or trip you have ever taken and why?
The most interesting trip I have ever taken was to Ocho Rios, Jamaica! We went there for my aunt’s wedding. One of the best parts of the trip was when my aunt, uncle and I climbed Dunn’s River Fall!

UNC! Go Tarheels! (That was for my Mommie.)

What is your favorite time of year and why?
Spring is my favorite season because my birthday is in the spring!

What is your greatest moment in life so far?
My greatest moment in life so far has been graduating from college. It was so surreal.

Do you have any nicknames?
Yes, I have quite a few! “Ambizzle,” “Baby,” “Ambi,” “Am” and “Ms. Brownie.”

What is your most prized possession?
My family is my most prized possession. I don’t know what I would do without them.

What song best describes you?
"You are my Sunshine."

What was your favorite TV show when you were growing up?
"Animaniacs" and "Tiny Toons."

If you could have a celebrity entourage with three celebrities, who would they be?
Beyonce’, Khloe Kardashian, T.I. and LaLa Anthony. (I know it says three, but I’m a rebel, so I chose four.)

What TV show do you wish was still on the air?
"The Cosby Show."

What is your favorite book you read as a child?
I loved reading "The Babysitters Club."
