This is Courtney’s fifth year as a member of the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad. She graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a business degree and a master’s in accounting. Courtney is recently married and loves reading, decorating, cooking and throwing theme parties. Her alter ego is a do-it-yourself decorator, and she can often be found channeling that as her outlet. Courtney loves the Carolina Hurricanes – from the team to the organization to the fans.
Q&A with Courtney
What are the top three things on your bucket list?
In no particular order: go to Venice and ride in a gondola; go to Fiji and stay in an overwater bungalow; and go bareboating around the Caribbean.
What would your friends be surprised to know about you?
That I want to live on a lot of land someday and have a huge garden like the movie “Something’s Gotta Give.” I hate to garden right now, though.
If you could have been born in another country, what country would it be?
London so I could have met Prince William and turned into Kate Middleton.
What is the craziest thing your parents did to embarrass you growing up?
They told me that they had gotten me a new Lexus RX330. On Christmas Eve, they let me drive it around the neighborhood and everything like it was my Christmas present. Turned out it was just a rental car. I had already texted my friends and everything.
When did you go to your first NHL game?
When the Hurricanes first came to Raleigh. It was super fun to finally have a hockey team in our hometown.
What is your dream job, other than being a member of the Storm Squad?
Is being a Duchess like Kate Middleton a job? If so, I’ll take it.
What is the strangest thing in your refrigerator right now?
Frosty Paws. It’s ice cream for my pup, Bodie.
What is your favorite quote?
"Kill ‘em with kindness."
What is your least favorite subject that you studied in school?
I would have to say math.
What is the most memorable sporting event that you’ve attended?
When Andre Agassi retired at the U.S. Open. I got to hear his last speech and see him do his final kiss-and-bow routine. It was so sad to see such a sports legend retire.
If you could travel to any point in time, where would you go and why?
I would love to go back to the 1950's when my parents were kids. I feel like I would be living the movie "Back to the Future," which is my favorite movie.
What is the first thing you would do if you won the lottery?
Buy the Lakers and the Yankees. It would have to be a big time lottery I’m guessing.
Besides food and water, what three things would you take with you to a desert island?
My Kindle loaded with lots of books, iPad and "Survivorman" complete series set loaded on my iPad.
What is the most interesting vacation or trip you have ever taken and why?
When I studied abroad for the summer in Greece. It was the most beautiful and different place I had ever been. I learned so much about their culture and history and loved every place we went.
Night owl or early bird?
Early bird. I go for the worm.
NC State, Duke, or UNC?
UNC! I went to undergrad and grad school there. Wonderful institution. Go Heels!
What is your greatest moment in life so far?
Being on the Storm Squad ... and getting engaged!
Do you have any superstitions?
I like to keep the Tootsie Roll Pop wrappers that have Indians on them. For some reason I heard they are supposed to bring you good luck.
What song best describes you?
Any song by Taylor Swift.
What was your favorite TV show when you were growing up?
"Saved by the Bell." I was obsessed with Kelly Kapowski.
What candy reminds you most of your youth?
Fun Dip. We always had those at the pool.

Anything by Backstreet Boys or 'N Sync.
