Mike's Bio

“Big Mike” has been a member of the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad for 10 years. He also works as an early childhood educator. In his free time, he enjoys going to amusement parks, going to the beach and riding the Amtrak to Charlotte. One of his favorite quotes is: “A life not lived for others is a life wasted.” Mike’s favorite part about being on the Storm Squad is getting to see all the fans at the games, Cool Bars and other events the team does around the community.

What are the top three things on your bucket list?
Skydive, go to a hockey game in Montreal and own a business.

If you could have been born in another country, what country would it be?
Australia.

What is your favorite app on your phone or iPod?
Rhapsody.

When did you go to your first NHL game?
1999.

What is your dream job, other than being a member of the Storm Squad?
Owning a daycare.

What is your favorite quote?
"A life not lived for others is a life not worth living."

What is your least favorite subject that you studied in school?
Geometry.

What is the most memorable sporting event that you’ve attended?
Game 7 of 2006 Stanley Cup Final.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you as a member of the Storm Squad?
I do not get embarrassed. Well, there is one thing that would embarrass me, but nobody knows what that is except me and one other person.

If you could be anyone's personal assistant for a day, who would it be?
Amusement park ride tester.

If you were on "American Idol," what song would you choose to sing?
“Hello” by Lionel Richie.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
The power to give unhappy people some happiness.

What is the first thing you would do if you won the lottery?
Hire a team of lawyers and accountants.

If someone wrote a biography about you, what would you want the title to be?
"Slapshots, Snapshots and Snotshots: The story of Big Mike’s life from working for an NHL team, his love of photography and working as a preschool teacher."

What is the most interesting vacation or trip you have ever taken and why?
I took a trip to Universal Studios by myself for five days. It was nice to come and go to the park as I pleased. I could go back to the hotel and rest whenever I wanted. I wanted to go where I “thought” that nobody knew me.

Hoot! Hoot!

What is your guilty pleasure?
Peanut Butter Cups.

What is your favorite time of year and why?

Fall and Winter. State Fair, Halloween, my birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas and cool weather!

In what event would you win an Olympic gold medal?
Rhytmic Gymnastics.
