Carolina Hurricanes 2016 Summer Hockey Camps
CYAH
The Carolina Hurricanes will host two weeks of youth hockey camps in July, with all sessions being held at Raleigh Center Ice, the official practice facility of the Canes. See below for complete camp details!

Week 1: July 18-22
Week 2: July 25-29

10 and Under: 8:15 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Super Friday Game: 10:45 - 11:45 a.m.

$515

Our main focus of this camp is to improve your fundamentals of skating, puck handling, passing and shooting in a positive and fun environment! The finer points of each of these skills include shooting techniques, shot accuracy, puck control, hand-eye coordination, along with skating agility and maneuverability. Along with on-ice instruction, campers will receive dry land training daily, which will help equip players with the knowledge of how to properly strengthen and stretch without injuring themselves.  A classroom session is also included in the camp and features video and off-ice instruction to develop the mental aspect and strategy of a player's game. Players will also be given P.E. time. This is a chance for them to unwind with their friends in a game of soccer, football or street hockey.

11 and Older: 9:15 a.m. - 4:45 p.m., Super Friday Game: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
$515

Summer CampThis session expands on the fundamentals taught to the younger group and focuses on continuing to refine these skills. Along with power skating, puck handling, passing and shooting, players will learn proper checking techniques. The camp will focus on team play, including offensive and defensive zone coverage. Along with on-ice instruction, campers will receive off-ice dry land training daily, which will help equip players with the knowledge of how to properly strengthen and stretch without injuring themselves. A classroom session is also included in the camp and features video and off-ice instruction to develop the mental aspect and strategy of a player's game. Players will also be given P.E. time, which is a chance for them to unwind with their friends in a game of soccer, football or street hockey. Players enrolled in the camp will have the chance to tour the Carolina Hurricanes official practice facility locker room.

Canes Goaltending Camp: 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (Week 1 Only!)
$415

The camp will build a strong foundation for the rookie goalie and continue to refine the veteran goaltender! The staff will implement the newest ideas in goaltending alongside the time-tested fundamentals to improve enrolled participants’ skating, movement, stance, balance, positioning and overall understanding of the game. Specific save techniques will be covered with an emphasis on the proper use of each piece of equipment for the save. Breakaway management, age-specific puck handling skills, puck tracking, along with screened and deflected shots are situation-specific skills that will be covered throughout the week of camp. Players will also partake in team-building exercises that will be used to improve each goaltender’s ability to be a leader both on and off the ice. This camp is open to goaltenders of all ages!

Super Friday Game

Each session of camp ends with a Super Friday Game (10:45 - 11:45 a.m. for 10 and younger, 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. for 11 and older). This is a chance for players to utilize what they have learned throughout the week in a fun and competitive atmosphere. The Super Friday Game will be filmed by CanesVision and announced by Carolina Hurricanes play-by-play legend, John Forslund or Chuck Kaiton. The event includes line-up cards, announcing each player on a PA system and arena style music. All families are encouraged to attend and cheer on your favorite player!
