Had completed five seasons with Saskatoon and Spokane of the Western Hockey League (WHL) entering 2008-09, registering 60 goals, 90 assists (150 points) and 249 penalty minutes... Had 10 points (1g, 9a) in 34 career major junior playoff games... Played for Team Pacific at the 2005 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, earning a silver medal.

2007-08: Completed his fourth full season of major junior hockey, splitting the year between the Saskatoon Blades and Spokane Chiefs of the WHL... Netted a career-high 19 goals, and totaled 41 points (19g, 21a) for the year... Acquired by Spokane via trade in Jan., he was a teammate of fellow Hurricanes prospect Drayson Bowman with the Chiefs... Scored a pair of goals in his Spokane debut vs. Kamloops (1/9)... Had served as Saskatoon’s team captain prior to being traded to Spokane... Appeared in all 21 WHL playoff games and four Memorial Cup contests for the Chiefs... Had seven assists during the WHL playoffs and earned one helper during the Memorial Cup, helping Spokane capture the Memorial Cup championship...
