Drafted by the Hurricanes in the fifth round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft… Had totaled 170 points (67g, 103a) and 166 penalty minutes in 235 career American Hockey League (AHL) games entering the 2012-13 season… Completed his junior hockey career in 2009 with 289 points (114g, 175a) and 352 penalty minutes in 253 games with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL)… Was teammates with fellow Hurricanes prospects Brett Bellemore, Michal Jordan, Austin Levi, Beau Schmitz and A.J.
