Ranked tied for third among OHL defensemen in scoring, totaling 54 points (11g, 43a) in just 49 games for Kitchener… Was tied for second among league defensemen in assists (43), and earned OHL Second All-Star Team honors… Ranked fourth among all Kitchener skaters in scoring and tied for second in assists… Had 13 multi-point games, including five three-point games and three four-point games… Made the Hurricanes’ roster to open the season, and was a healthy extra for the first four games of the NHL season with the Hurricanes, prior to being returned to Kitchener…Earned three assists at Owen Sound (10/15)… Missed 10 games after suffering a concussion from a hit by Tom Kuhnhackl vs. Niagara (11/4)… Had points in 13 of 14 games between 1/15-2/17, including four-point games vs. Kingston (1/15: 1g, 3a) and at Belleville (1/21: 1g, 3a) and three-point efforts at London (1/25: 1g, 2a), at Guelph (1/29: 1g, 2a) and vs. Guelph (2/7: 1g, 2a)… Had his only multi-goal game of the season with two goals and an assist at Sudbury (3/2)… Earned four assists in the regular-season finale vs. Erie (3/16)… Led all OHL defensemen in assists (20) during the playoffs, as Kitchener advanced to the conference final before being swept by eventual OHL Champion London… Ranked third among OHL defensemen in playoff points (22), skating in 16 postseason contests… Had points in 12 of 16 playoff games, including eight multi-point games… Earned three assists in Game 4 at Owen Sound (3/28)… Had his second three-point effort of the playoff with a goal and two assists in Game 3 vs. London (4/22).

Had 173 points (43g, 129a) and 88 penalty minutes in 174 career Ontario Hockey League (OHL) games entering 2012-13… Also had 50 points (9g, 41a) in 43 career OHL playoff games… Had five points (1g, 4a) during the four-game Canada-Russia Challenge in Aug. 2012… Led Canada in scoring at the 2011 U18 World Junior Championship in Germany with 13 points (4g, 9a) in seven games, and named the tournament’s Top Defenseman… Won a silver medal with Ontario at the 2010 World U-17 Hockey Challenge in Timmins, Ontario… Prior to beginning his OHL career, played youth hockey for the York Simcoe Express, winning Ontario Minor Hockey Association AAA championships in Bantam (2008) and Peewee (2006)… Was Kitchener’s first-round pick (3rd overall) in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection… Was selected to the OHL’s All-Rookie Team in 2009-10, after ranking second among rookie blueliners and seventh among all OHL rookies with 39 points (6g, 33a)… Ranked second among Kitchener rookies and second among Rangers defensemen in scoring… Was also named Kitchener’s Most Gentlemanly Player for 2009-10… Was third among OHL defensemen in scoring during the 2010 OHL playoffs, helping Kitchener reach the conference final before falling to eventual Memorial Cup champion Windsor in seven games… Led all OHL defensemen in goals (26) and ranked second in scoring (79 points) in 63 games during his second OHL season in 2010-11… Was voted into the top three by the league’s Western Conference coaches in the Smartest Player and Best Offensive Defenseman categories… Played in the 2011 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game… Represented Team OHL in the 2011 CHL Subway Super Series against Russia… Was named OHL Defenseman of the Month for October 2010 after leading all league blueliners with 18 points (7g, 11a) in 12 games… Had five point efforts with a goal and four assists vs. Erie (10/1/10) and at London (11/4/10)… Ranked tied for 11th among OHL defensemen in 2011 playoff scoring with 11 points (2g, 9a), despite playing just seven games, as Kitchener fell in the opening round to Plymouth.
