2014-15 Season
Appeared in his first NHL season with Carolina, skating in two games on the NHL level…Spent the majority of the season in the AHL with Charlotte, ranking fourth among Checkers skaters with a career-high 30 points (13g, 17a) in a career-high 68 games played… Was second among Checkers players with a career-high 101 penalty minutes… Also established an AHL career best in assists (17)… Had assists in four of five games from 10/11-10/24 (4a)… Netted his first goal of the season – a shorthanded tally – vs. Texas (11/10)… Netted a pair of goals, including the game winner, vs. Iowa (12/6)… Received his first NHL recall from Charlotte on Dec. 22… Made his NHL/Hurricanes debut at NJ (12/23)… Also played for the Hurricanes at TB (12/27) before being reassigned to Charlotte for the balance of the season on Dec. 28… Scored a goal and added an assist at Rockford (1/13)… Netted two goals and fired a season-high eight shots on net at San Antonio (3/17)… Registered his second multi-assist game and fifth multi-point game in the season finale at Grand Rapids (4/18).

Career

Has skated in two games on the NHL level for the Hurricanes prior to the start of the 2015-16 season… Selected by Carolina in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL Draft… Signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Hurricanes on 4/10/13… Had 38 points (18g, 20a) and 143 penalty minutes in 112 career American Hockey League (AHL) games with Charlotte at the end of the 2014-15season… Totaled 22 points (10g, 12a) in 75 career collegiate games with the University of Wisconsin (WCHA) before turning professional… Appeared in 91 career United States Hockey League (USHL) games prior to his college career, totaling 36 points (20g, 16a)… His father, Bob Woods, played professionally in the AHL, IHL and ECHL, and currently serves as head coach and general manager of the Western Hockey League’s Saskatoon Blades.

2008-09:
Skated for Williston Prep (MA), earning 19 points (8g, 11a) in 29 games.

2009-10:
Played his first USHL season for Chicago, totaling six goals and four assists (10 points) in 34 games.

2010-11:
Earned 26 points (14g, 12a) in 57 games with Muskegon (USHL).

2011-12:
Completed his freshman season at the University of Wisconsin (WCHA), totaling five goals and five assists (10 points)… Led the Badgers in penalties taken (21) and penalty minutes (67)… Ranked tied for first among Wisconsin freshmen with five goals… Made his NCAA debut vs. Northern Michigan (10/7)… Netted his first career college goal in a 5-3 win vs. No. 5 North Dakota (10/21)… Earned his first college assist in a 5-4 win vs. No. 5 North Dakota (10/22).

2012-13:
Established collegiate career highs in assists (7) and points (12) and matched his career high in goals (5) during his sophomore season at Wisconsin… Led the team in faceoff winning percentage (61.6)… Ranked fourth among Badgers in penalty minutes (47)… Earned three assists in four games to help Wisconsin capture the WCHA tournament championship… The Badgers were eliminated by UMass-Lowell in the regional semifinal of the NCAA tournament… Signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Hurricanes on 4/10 after the conclusion of his college season… Joined Charlotte (AHL) on an amateur tryout contract and made his professional debut at Peoria (4/16)… Did not dress for the Checkers during the Calder Cup playoffs.

2013-14:
Completed his first full professional season with Charlotte (AHL)… Ranked fifth among Checkers rookies in points (8) and second among rookies in goals (5)… Ranked ninth on the team in penalty minutes (40)… Scored his first professional goal at Grand Rapids (10/25)… Received the first major penalty of his professional career when he dropped the gloves with Chris Porter at Chicago (10/27)… Tallied his first professional assist on Rasmus Rissanen’s goal at Toronto (11/19)… Scored his fifth goal of the season and dropped the gloves with Ben Eager vs. Oklahoma City (2/9)… Missed 31 games due to injury, including the final 25 games.
