Selected by the Hurricanes in the sixth round (159th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft… Is in his first season with Western Michigan University of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) in 2015-16… Was 58-28-7 with a 2.65 goals-against average and .912 save percentage in 102 career games in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the USNTDP and Sioux City… Also played 11 career games for Ohio State (Big 10), going 2-4-1 with a 3.69 goals-against average… Spent two years in the United States National Team Development Program from 2010-2012… Was chosen as the Best Goaltender at the 2012 IIHF U-18 World Junior Championship in the Czech Republic, leading the United States to the gold medal with a record of 5-0, a 0.80 goals-against average and three shutouts… The three shutouts included a 7-0 victory in the gold-medal game against Sweden, and matched Jack Campbell’s record… Also represented the U.S. at the 2012 U-18 5 Nations Tournament, the 2011 U-18 4 Nations Cup, the 2010 U-17 4 Nations Cup and the 2011 World U-17 Challenge… Was 7-6-2 with a 2.55 goals-against average and one shutout in 16 games for the USNTDP in the USHL in 2011-12… Played for Ohio State in 2012-13, going 2-3-1 in nine games played with a 3.09 goals-against average and .901 save percentage… Served as backup to All-American netminder Brady Hjelle most of the season… Began the 2013-14 season with Ohio State, appearing in two games before returning to the USHL… Was 14-4-1 with a 2.29 goals-against average and .921 save percentage in 23 USHL games with the USNTDP and Sioux City… Ranked second in the USHL in save percentage and fourth in goals-against average in 2013-14.

2014-15: Completed his fourth season in the USHL, going 27-10-4 with a 2.78 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in 44 games with Sioux City… Ranked fourth in the league in save percentage and tied for third in shutouts… Earned three shutouts: vs. Sioux Falls (10/4), at Bloomington (1/9) and vs. Des Moines (2/13)… Stopped a season-high 45 shots in a 4-1 victory at Sioux Falls (10/15)… Won a season-high seven consecutive games from 1/16-2/13… Matched his season-best with 45 saves in a 5-3 win vs. Chicago (2/7).
