Career
Is in his third NHL season with the Hurricanes… Selected by Carolina with the fifth overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft… Signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Hurricanes on 7/15/13… Started playing hockey in Germany at the age of three while his father was playing for the Hannover Scorpions… His father, Mikael, played for the Los Angeles Kings during the 1989-90 season, and also played professionally in the AHL, IHL and Sweden… Has represented Sweden in a number of international tournaments, helping Sweden capture silver at the 2012 U18 World Junior Championship and the 2013 and 2014 World Junior Championships.

2009-10: Tallied 10 points (4g, 6a) in nine games for the U18 team in Brynas.

2010-11:
Spent the majority of the season with the Brynas U18 squad, ranking second on the team in scoring with 61 points (17g, 44a) in 40 games played… Also appeared in two games with Brynas Jr.

2011-12:
Spent most of the season with Brynas Jr., totaling 49 points (14g, 35a) and a plus-24 rating in 36 games played… Made his Swedish Elite League debut for Brynas vs. Timra (12/3/11), one day after his 17th birthday… Appeared in 12 regular-season games and two playoff games on Sweden’s top level.

2012-13: Played his first full season in the Swedish Elite League (SEL) with Brynas, ranking third on the team in scoring with 30 points (11g, 19a) despite being the youngest player on the roster… Was one of only two Brynas skaters to finish the season with positive plus/minus rating (+1)… Had six multi-point games… Was a finalist for the league’s Rookie of the Year award, leading all junior-aged players in scoring… Earned his first SEL point with an assist at Linkoping (9/22)… Scored his first SEL goal at Timra (9/29)… Had three consecutive multi-point efforts from 10/9-10/13 (3g, 5a), including back-to-back three-point games at Rogle (10/9: 1g, 2a) and at Skelleftea (10/11: 1g, 2a)… Had his first multi-goal game at MODO (2/28)… Appeared in all four playoff games as Brynas was swept by Skelleftea.

2013-14:
