GAME: St. Louis Blues (22-10-5-1) at Carolina Hurricanes (12-17-8-2).TIME: Tuesday, 7 p.m. EST.
Peter Laviolette's coaching hasn't done anything to fix the Carolina Hurricanes' inept offense.
The Hurricanes look to get their offense in gear and snap a three-game losing streak as they host the St. Louis Blues.
The Hurricanes have scored just twice in the last three games, and Carolina's 68 goals are the fewest in the NHL. The Hurricanes have scored 12 goals in nine games under Laviolette, who replaced Paul Maurice on Dec. 15.
The NHL's worst-ranked power-play unit has been particularly vexing for Carolina. The Hurricanes have two power-play goals in their last 45 opportunities and are converting a league-low 10.4 percent for the season.
Carolina failed to get any of its 26 shots past Phoenix goaltender Brian Boucher in a 3-0 loss to the Coyotes on Sunday. They'll try to end the drought against Blues goalie Chris Osgood.
Osgood is among the NHL leaders with 17 wins and a 2.00 goals against average. He stopped 23 of 24 shots as St. Louis tied the Minnesota Wild 1-1 on Monday.
Doug Weight got an assist for his 800th career point for St. Louis, moving him one ahead of teammate Keith Tkachuk. Weight has 219 goals and 581 assists, reaching the milestone in 839 games.
Tkachuk has 417 goals and 382 assists in 813 games, but failed to score for the first time in 14 games Monday. He had seven goals and 14 assists in that span, but his scoring streak officially was at five games because he missed three games with an ankle injury.
The Blues are just 2-3-4 over the last nine games.
